Intumescent Composite Sheets: Specialized barriers (like those from 3M) that provide up to 4 hours of fire protection by expanding when exposed to heat, sealing penetrations against flames and toxic gase. Flame Retardancy: Most high-quality barrier boards meet UL 94 V-0 standards, meaning they are self-extinguishing and do not emit toxic halogens. Visibility: The distinct red color (common for GPO-3) serves as a visual warning to identify high-voltage hazard areas.
