Metal Tube Rotameter

Metal Tube Rotameter is a Variable Area Flow Meter. It consists of a tapered tube, typically made of steel with a 'float', made of SS or PTFE. The differential pressure across the annulus area is constant. The float moves through the tapered tube up and down with respect to fluid flow.A rotameter is a device that measures the flow rate of fluid in a closed tube. It is a variable area type of flow meter. In this, a float rises inside a conically shaped glass tube, as the flow increases, its position on a scale can be read off as the flow rate.A rotameter, also called variable area flowmeter, is inherently a volumetric flow measurement device. The word origin is rota(tion) + messer/measure/meter. The scale can be in mass flow units if the volume flow rate is multiplied by a specified density, and in dimension units (mm) or percent.
