Rotary Dryer Machine

A rotary dryer is a type of industrial dryer used to reduce or minimize the moisture content of the material it is handling by bringing it into contact with a heated gas.ccRotary dryers are mainly used in the chemical and mineral industry. In the area of food, their most common applications are for dehydrating waste materials (citrus peels, vegetable trimmings) and animal feedstuffs (alfalfa). Rotary dryers consist of a metal cylinder with internal flights or louvers (Fig. 22.21). Heat transfer efficiency is increased with a rotary dryer through the use of lifting flights. The flights pick up the material and drop it through the airstream, creating a curtain of material as the drum rotates. Exposing the material to the airflow improves drying and moisture leveling.
