Sandstone Lotus

A stone sculpture is an object made of stone which has been shaped, usually by carving, or assembled to form a visually interesting three-dimensional shape. Sandstones are economically important as major reservoirs for both petroleum and water, as building materials, and as valuable sources of metallic ores. Most significantly, they are the single most useful sedimentary rock type for deciphering Earth history.Sandstone is a sedimentary rock composed mostly of quartz sand, but it can also contain significant amounts of feldspar, and sometimes silt and clay. Sandstone that contains more than 90% quartz is called quartzose sandstone.Sandstone is a medium-grained sedimentary rock. It is pale yellow, grey or often red to brown. Composed of rounded grains of silica (quartz) that are all the same size, it is cemented together by silica, calcite or an iron mineral. Sandstones are often layered and can show colour variations between the layers.
