The Shoulder Wheel is constructed of a 37"-diameter steel tube wheel fitted with a resistance mechanism that revolves smoothly around a drum to provide a varied arc of motion from 10° to 39°.“Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel” was composed by William L. Thompson, a member of the Church of Christ, and was first published in a gospel-song hymnal in 1904. In 1909, it was included in Deseret Sunday School Songs and quickly caught on with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Work hard, make a strenuous effort, as in We'll have to put our shoulder to the wheel to get this job done. This metaphoric term, alluding to pushing a heavy vehicle that has bogged down, has been used figuratively since the late 1700s.
