Vacuum Chamber

A vacuum chamber is a rigid enclosure from which air and other gases are removed by a vacuum pump. Vacuum pumps are simply compressors that take in gas at a pressure lower than atmospheric pressure, compress it, and discharge the gas at atmospheric pressure. Since gas at low pressures has a large volume, vacuum pumps tend to be bulky.Vacuum cleaners use an electric motor that spins a fan, sucking in air – and any small particles caught up in it – and pushing it out the other side, into a bag or a canister, to create the negative pressure.Vacuum is simply a pressure that is less than the surrounding atmospheric pressure. Essentially it is a difference in pressure, or differential, that can be used to do work. Since vacuum is by definition a negative pressure, the common terminology of high-vacuum and low-vacuum can be confusing.
