A slitter rewinder is a machine dedicated to cutting a master or parent roll of material to a smaller width in order to process the material in the next steps of a production process. Slitter rewinders can be found in numerous types of manufacturing facilities in numerous types of industries across the globe.In log slitting the roll of material is treated as a whole (the 'log') and one or more slices are taken from it without an unrolling/re-reeling process. In rewind slitting the web is unwound and run through the machine, passing through knives or lasers, before being rewound on one or more shafts to form narrower rolls.The mechanism used for the slitting process is often referred to as a slitter, a slitting machine or a slitter rewinder. To put things simply, the main role of a slitting machine is to convert (slit) papers, film and foil materials so that large rolls of these materials can be cut into narrower rolls.
