Description

A spherical plain bearing (also called a spherical bearing or spherical plain bushing) is a type of bearing designed to accommodate angular misalignment between two connected parts. Unlike rolling element bearings (which use balls or rollers), spherical plain bearings typically use a sliding contact surface, making them robust and well-suited for heavy loads and oscillating movements. Spherical inner ring: The inner ring has a spherical outer surface. Outer ring: The outer ring has a matching concave inner surface to house the inner ring. Sliding contact: Movement occurs by sliding between the inner and outer rings. Self-aligning ability: Can compensate for misalignment or shaft deflection. Radial Spherical Plain Bearings – support radial loads and allow angular movement. Angular Contact Spherical Plain Bearings – carry both radial and axial loads. Thrust Spherical Plain Bearings – designed for axial loads only. Typically made from hardened steel, stainless steel, or with PTFE (Teflon), bronze, or composite liners for low friction and maintenance-free operation. Some are grease-lubricated, while others are maintenance-free (dry-running). Construction machinery (excavators, loaders, cranes) Automotive & aerospace (suspension systems, steering linkages) Hydraulic cylinders & heavy equipment (where oscillating or tilting motion occurs) Industrial machinery (linkages, joints, and pivot points) Can handle high loads and shock loads. Allow for angular motion and misalignment. Compact and durable design. Additional Information:
