Belleville Washer

A Belleville washer is a conical-shaped spring designed for high-stress applications to provide a high load capacity in a small space. Also known as a disc spring, it is used to maintain tension in bolted assemblies, absorb shock, and resist vibration. The load and deflection characteristics of a Belleville washer can be modified by stacking multiple washers in series to increase deflection or in parallel to increase load.
