Vibrating Wire Strain Gauge Embedment Type

Vibrating Wire Strain Gauge Embedment Type is used for measurement of internal strain in concrete by embeding the structure in single of multi axis configruation. Each gauge contains a high tensile steel wire inn tension between two end flanges and enclosed in steel tube. A plucking coil is positioned at the centre of the tube and in close proximity to the wire. A plucking coil positioned at the centre of the tube and inclose proximity tothe wire. When the strain gauges are embedded in the concrete the strain resulting from the stresses developed in the concrete alers the natural frequency of oscillation of the wire. The strainin concrete is proportional to the squarre of the frequency of oscillation of the wire, and to the gauge thus provided a sensitive system for measuring internal strains.
