Swimming Pool Suction

The suction side refers to the pipes and fittings that bring water out of the pool to be filtered; that water which is being "sucked" out of the pool by the filter pump. Usually this is the pool skimmer, although some older pools have a dedicated vacuum line.Suction side cleaners attach to the main filtration pump in your pool and use the suction to move the cleaner around. These cleaners scrub the pool surface and remove unwanted dirt and debris. The debris is then returned to your pump basket through your pool's filtration system.While the pump is off, lather the joints, seams, and any other parts of the suction-side plumbing with an evenly applied layer of shaving cream. Turn on the pump. Inspect the shaving cream covered dimpling. These dimples are signs the cream is being pulled in by an air leak.
