Surgical Scrub Stations

Scrub sinks, also referred to as surgical sinks or medical sinks, are vital to keeping Operating Rooms (ORs) up and running, and are imperative to the health and safety of patients. They serve as the scrub station for surgeons and other OR staff to scrub their hands and arms before a surgical or invasive procedure.Surgical hand scrubbing is the removal of transient flora and reduction of permanent flora as much as possible before any sterile gloves are worn before any surgical intervention. It is a cheap and easy method to prevent infections.The surgical scrub, when properly performed, has been shown to remove transient skin flora from the fingernails, hands and forearms; reduce the resident microbial population to an irreducible minimum; and slow the growth of bacteria in order to contribute to reducing the risk of a SSI.
