Description
Filter media is what traps particles when pool (or spa) water passes through your filter. Filter media has a very dirty job and is a key component in maintaining clear water.Made from grains of recycled glass, glass filter media is used in media filters to keep debris and bacteria out of your pool. As water is pumped to the filter, it passes through the glass media, which captures particles using a static charge. The clean water is then syphoned back into the pool through the return jets.A media filter is a type of filter that uses a bed of sand, peat, shredded tires, foam, crushed glass, geo-textile fabric, anthracite, crushed granite or other material to filter water for drinking, swimming pools, aquaculture, irrigation, stormwater management, oil and gas operations, and other applications.Filter media is material that actively separates solids from a solution and/or binds select materials in a solution. Base fluids may include coolants, corrosive chemicals, gasoline, diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid, lubricants, water, oil, inks, dies, and paints.Media filters are housed in metal cabinet-like containers called media air cleaners. Media air cleaners are installed in an HVAC system's return duct line, enabling media filters to capture pollutants, such as dust, dander, mold, and pollen, before they enter a business or home. Many systems have filter media for iron and manganese removal. That filter media may also be removing arsenic or radium if it is present in the water. While filters help clean the water, contaminants can build up on the media over time.
