A synoptophore is a specialized ophthalmic instrument used primarily in the diagnosis and treatment of binocular vision anomalies such as strabismus (eye misalignment) and amblyopia (lazy eye). It allows independent control of visual stimuli presented to each eye, helping assess ocular alignment, fusion, and depth perception.
