Description
Silk screening is most commonly used in the printing process of various types of designs and images onto the fabric or other materials such as plastic, paper, cloth, wood, and others.Screen printing, also known as silk screening or silkscreen printing, is the process of transferring a stencilled design onto a surface using a mesh screen, ink, and a squeegee (a rubber blade). The silk screen in silk screen printing is a metal or wooden frame with a fine mesh fabric stretched over the top. Traditionally, this mesh was crafted from silk thread, but nowadays this has been superseded by polyester fabrics, which offer the same performance for a lower price.Silkscreen Printing produces higher fidelity results with more vibrant colours which are hard to replicate using other printing techniques. It also allows for sharper, cleaner lines and more well-defined details.Cheap for large quantity printing. Cost effective when fewer ink colours are needed (i.e. 1 or 2 colours). Designs can be very detailed (e.g. small text, fine lines). When & Where is Screen Printing Used? Screen Printing is most commonly associated with T-Shirts, lanyards, balloons, bags and merchandise however this process is also used when applying latex to promotional printed scratch cards or for a decorative print process called spot UV.
