The inverter performs conversion of direct current to an alternating voltage by converting the energy stored in the dc sources like battery and rectifiers. The batteries in the inverter store energy in the form of direct current and the home appliances we use need alternating current and this is how inverters work.DC TIG welding inverters are used in the welding of materials such as stainless steel, steel, copper etc whereas the AC welding inverters are used to weld materials such as aluminium which have a refractory oxide coating.There are 3 major types of inverters - sine wave (sometimes referred to as a "true" or "pure" sine wave), modified sine wave (actually a modified square wave), and square wave. A sine wave is what you get from your local utility company and (usually) from a generator.Inverters are also called AC Drives, or VFD (variable frequency drive). They are electronic devices that can turn DC (Direct Current) to AC (Alternating Current). It is also responsible for controlling speed and torque for electric motors.
