Ultrafiltration (UF) is a membrane technique used to remove the dissolved and colloidal material in low transmembrane pressure. Dissolved metal ions as low-molecular weights or hydrated ions could easily transmit UF membranes, because their membranes have pores that are greater than dissolved metal ions. (UF) is a water purification process in which water is forced through a semipermeable membrane. Suspended solids and high-molecular-weight solutes remain on one side of the membrane, the retentate side, while water and low-molecular-weight solutes filter through the membrane to the permeate side.
