Description
Cogged V-Belt A cogged V-belt (also called a raw edge notched V-belt) is a type of V-belt with notches (cogs) cut into the inner surface of the belt. These notches make the belt more flexible and allow it to bend easily around smaller pulley diameters, while still transmitting high power. Key Features V-shaped cross-section: Fits into pulley grooves just like a standard V-belt. Notched (cogged) design: Provides greater flexibility and reduces bending resistance. Raw edge construction: Improves grip and reduces slip. High power transmission efficiency. Operates cooler: Notches improve heat dissipation. Advantages over Classical V-Belts Can run on smaller pulleys due to flexibility. Higher power capacity for the same size. Longer service life under demanding conditions. Reduced energy loss due to less internal friction. Less prone to slip and stretch. Applications Automotive: Alternators, air-conditioning compressors, water pumps, power steering. Agriculture: Tractors, harvesters, rice mills. Industrial machinery: Compressors, blowers, pumps, textile machines, conveyors. HVAC systems: Fans and air-handling units. Example Designation AX, BX, CX, etc. → "X" indicates cogged type. AX = Cogged version of A-section belt. BX = Cogged version of B-section belt.
