DESCRIPTION Sika® WP Shield Primer is water based modified bituminous primer which penetrates and activates the substrates and also improves adhesion between the substrate and pre-formed bituminous sheet membranes Sika® WP Shield range & SikaBit® T range. USES Used as a primer for better adhesion of the torch-on and stick-on Atactic Polypropylene (APP) and Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) modified bituminous waterproofing pre-formed sheet membranes.CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES Excellent bond with concrete, screed mortar, porous stones and lime-concrete substrates ▪ ▪ Bonds well with old bituminous substrates Effective activation of the surface to receive the waterproofing sheet membrane ▪ ▪ Specially designed for tropical conditionsAPPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS SUBSTRATE QUALITY Concrete, lime-concrete and mortar screed surfaces must be clean, free from grease, oil & loosely adhering particles. SUBSTRATE PREPARATION New concrete should be cured for at least 28 days and should have a pull off strength ≥1.5 N/mm2. Cementitious or Mineral based substrates must be prepared mechanically using wire brush, grinder, abrasive blast cleaning or scarifying equipment to remove cement laitance and to achieve an open textured surface. Loose friable material and weak concrete must be completely removed and surface defects such as blowholes and voids must be fully exposed. Use Sikadur® or SikaLatex® or SikaMonotop® range of repair materials for filling in potholes, voids or cracks on the substratesMIXING Sika® WP Shield Primer is a ready to use product. Dilution is sometimes permissible but strictly as per the advice of Sika® Technical Service in case the product is not of brushable consistency due to site and weather conditions. Stir the contents well before application. LIMITATIONS The primer may become high viscous due to change in ambient conditions like temperature and humidity that might affect the consistency and increase consumption of the primer. Under such situation, a site modification by slightly diluting the primer as per the advice of the Sika® Technical Service may be necessary to achieve the desired application consistency.
