A Water Softener is a filtration system that works to remove high concentrations of calcium and magnesium that cause hard water. When water flows through a Water Softener, the system filters out these hard water minerals and the softened water then leaves the water softening system to flow through plumbing.Of the various types of water softener systems, the most common are ion exchange water softeners, dual-tank water softeners and salt-free water softeners.Soft water is surface water which contains low concentrations of calcium and magnesium minerals. Chemically softened water is also called soft water, which contains a high amount of sodium ions. Soft water tastes salty while drinking.
