Web guiding system is also referred to as web guides or lateral guides. These devices are used in aligning the flexible material roll-to-roll converting machines. As the name suggests, the device guides the material to the desired position.Essentially, there are two types of web guides utilized in the industry. Displacement guides, also referred to as offset-pivot guides, and steering guides or remotely pivoted guides. Displacement guides are the more commonly used of the two.A web edge sensor or a web position sensor detects the position of the web material. This measurement is used to determine and control the desired position of the material. The Controller is the brain of the web guiding system.
