Electrical discharge machining (EDM), also known as spark machining, spark eroding, die sinking, wire burning or wire erosion, is a metal fabrication process whereby a desired shape is obtained by using electrical discharges (sparks).The wire-cut EDM machine is operated by a CNC control instrument that can control the wire on a three-dimensional axis for greater flexibility. Conventional EDM cannot produce narrower angles or more complex patterns, while wire-cut EDM can be performed. A more precise cutting process allows for more complex cuts.
